My eyes is set on buying a brand new Mossberg 590 mariner special purpose shotty (20" bbl) 9-sh. that I intend to use for 3-gun matches. However, I am not sure which sight to get, Bead sight or Ghost Ring. I dont think this model comes with FO sight, so I will keep this inquiry between Ghost & Bead sights. Can the people who has experience on both sights give me advice which sight is more suitable for the 3-gun match shotgun? :)

Please make note, I am buying this shotty mainly for the intent of 3-GUN MATCH USE - NOT HUNTING or HOME PROTECTION. :)

Your input will be highly appreciated.
Thank you in advance. :)

I don't think you can go wrong with it; they're fast, they're certainly easily used for slugs, so no downside that I can see. In fact, if you're trying to go too fast, and you mount the gun improperly, the ghost rings will let you know right away that something's wrong.

I've never done a 3 gun match... but an obvious negative would be that the Ghost Ring "could" get caught more easily than a smooth top receiver. :)

I prefer all my shotguns to have bead sights for simplicity, but that's just personal preference; rails and ghost rings have excellent LCF. ;)

I've never shot 3 gun matches either. My Mossberg 590 has a set of ghost ring sites and I find them very quick and accurate, I don't think they will get caught any easier than other sites. I use the Sage International night sites on my mossy, the sites are strong and the sides are protected, so they are very durable and can take a beating.

I've shot some combat style matches with my shottie and ghost ring sites are the way to go, easy to engage targets with buckshot or pinpoint accuracy with slugs out to 100-150yards.

In a 3 gun, there's no place for the sights to catch.

Go with the Ghost Rings.

Ghost rings are the way to go for speed and accuracy. If slugs and buckshot are involved in your compettition, then you most certainly want the ghost ring model. Mossberg mounts their beads right on the barrel, and this will cause you to shoot high, probably a foot at 25 yards, and the round bead will not give you as precise an aiming index as does the square post front sight.

Thanks for the input guys. Ghost ring sight it is then.:) :)
I am ordering one soon as my Christmas gift to myself. :D :D
Thanks once again.
