Pros and cons of keeping a revolver, when you're not a revolver guy?

I'd be keeping it. You may gravitate to autos now, but you may start to appreciated revolvers later, and then it will be too late.

I am a semiauto guy all the way. BUT..... I bought a Ruger GP100 "just to have a 357 revolver", now it is my favorite handgun. LOTS of power, no jams, usually more accurate than a semi because of the fixed barrel. Lots of reasons to love them. I even got a lever action in 357 to compliment it.

Only shot revolvers for years, took how easy it was to retrieve the brass for granted.

Bought a 1911 recently and I never considered what pain it is to find where it flings the cases, still enjoy shooting it but it’s definately something I appreciate now.

Never cared where my brass goes. If indoors, you sweep it up. Outdoors, who cares.
Revolvers may be useful if you are going to commit a crime or you reload. ;)

I just bought a revolver a couple weeks back - it arrived yesterday and it is beautiful! Had to buy a revolver as I could not find a 500SW semi auto! Range day as soon as registration arrives!!!

And the wonderful thing about a revolver in a massive magnum cartridge is that it can give you a MASSIVE KABLAMMO times you want that, and you can load minimum-power rounds for times you want to relax and it'll cycle those just as well!

In case anyone is looking for one, the S&W 686 International appears to be back in stock at Easthill Outdoors as of this morning. Price is still $1700.

When I was young I owned what are now prohibited rifles and pistols, but when bill c-63 came into effect I owned neither. Now 30 years later I would love to own prohibs but I can not as I do not have that endorsement on my license. So maybe you are not a revolver guy today, but you may be a revolver guy someday. I was considering selling my only revolver but I can not say for certain that I would not want to ever shoot a revolver again in my life. As others stated it is more fun to have in the winter as you do not lose your brass in a snow bank.

One of the advantages in owning a revolver is that it can handle quite powerful cartridges easily. More easily than semiauto pistols. I have only one revolver in 44 Mag and I'll hang on to it for that reason.

Wait til your older and your back and knees can't stand bending down to pick up brass. That is what led me to revolvers. Now I have a dozen.

Cheers
Moe

I bought a GP100 .357 to try; I'm getting older and am sick of chasing brass as I reload everything.
Since then, I have sold my .40 Jericho, and hardly shoot my 1911 and my 9mm; my High Standard .22 still gets range time regularly.
I shoot PPC, and find that I shoot the revolver better, even in double action; .38 special are as easy to reload as 9mm.
Keep it, shoot it, love it.

I believe the OP already sold his. The one at Easthill is gone now too.
The one at Easthill was the one I was returning to them. Hopefully if anyone on here bought it, they're patient. It's still on the way back to the store.
Advertised as new, but looked so used they offered me my money back on it, then raised the price to sell it again... as new.
They offered me a discount on a future purchase but I really doubt I'd ever shop there again.

Lucked out with the timing of it all however, and snagged a 627 Performance Center in better shape than the "new" 686 International from Easthill. This is the one that will make me a revolver guy.

man you are a buying and selling machine, Im still waitining on a bunch

sorry to hear about the revolver looking pretty used. I see some pics on the stainless onces dont look like a great polish job from factory just based on pics

I only own .22lr revolvers. They’re cheaper, ammo is orders of magnitude cheaper, and I still get to say I own wheel guns.

They’re also what I start people out with when taking new shooters for their first spin with a hand gun. Good for teaching basics and safety.

so true: teaching basics and safety are way easier with revolver.
