I'll admit that I drank the Blue Force Gear Kool-Aid that Darren from OSTS was selling years ago. I liked and was an early adopter of the SOC-C Sling, loved the Contractor Pack, and loved the Vickers VCAS even more. I've got multiple examples of each in several colours. They worked great for my black guns with picatinny rails, QD sockets or integral hard points for HK/MASH hooks, however, not so much for your standard M4 with stock "fat" round handguards and bottom mounted sling swivels. In the past I installed a second side mounted swivel or picked up a QD socket mount for FSBs like the KAC.

As much as I love BFG slings, I simply couldn't warm up to their UWL adapter. As strong as I know it must be intellectually, I could never bring myself to trust the thin steel wire to keep my expensive firearms attached to me and deliberately avoided it. A good shooting buddy of mine swears by them and uses the UWL loops on several of his black guns. He's been on my case for years to give 'em a chance.

So...I'm turning to you guys to weigh in on the subject and make your case, either for or against, the BFG UWL. Please feel free to jump in, post pics of your rigs and share your experiences. What are its strengths and weaknesses? Will the coating melt? Wire kink? If kinked, what's the likelihood of the wire failing? :)

The wire itself is actually aircraft cable so it's extremely strong ;)

We sold a number of these for guys that needed to attached slings to breaching hammers, Carl G's, C6's and many other similar heavy items that don't always have sling loops.

We've never heard of one failing.
