Anyone have experience or insight into selecting bags for use with an Oryx chassis?

I'm new to shooting from a rest and need to replace the factory front bag on my Caldwell "The Rock BR" with something that doesn't rip at the seams after a day of shooting. I'm finding it hard to decide on which manufacturer and size I should be going with? The Oryx forestock looks to be 1 3/4" wide.

I'm leaning towards Protektor Model #2, from their site: "The bag measures approximately 2"-2 1/2" in between the ears and has a base size of 2 1/4" W x 5 3/4" L x 1" H" ...If I go with the #2 will the extra distance between the ears make it sloppy? I feel like the #2 would be fine but I'd like to hear from the community of more experienced shooters

Then when it comes to the rear... I'm looking at either the #14A or #14B, the only difference looks to be the height of the bag to the base of the ears (2 3/4" vs. 3 3/4")?
The question here is, does that extra 1" really make a significant difference or is it a personal preference thing? I'm not home so I can't really measure the distance from the bench to the bottom of the buttstock

I normally shoot off a solid concrete bench top, and I don't currently have a bag rider (not sure if the MDT one will work on an Oryx)... maybe there's a better option for a rear bag??

I don't have that gun but I do use Protektor bags - they work well.

For the rear bag get one with a handle built into the bottom. My first bag did not have one and I recently upgraded to one with a carry handle built in. Much handier when dragging all of your stuff from your vehicle to the shooting bench.

I recommend calling the guys at Protektor - they will help you decide and make whatever you need. The spacing between the ears can be tricky to get right the first time ( I did not). They will tell you about the 7 kinds of sand that they have to pack the bags and the ears. They will tell you about super slippery material to make the stock slide.

They ship quick and their bags are great.

I'm just about to purchase a set as I'm having trouble staying in contact with the canadain dealer for seb... thought to give them a call but I will definitely now as my Kelbly stock uses a 3/8" space between the ears but the other rifle I run has a 3/4" flat on the bottom of the buttstock so don't know if I should order 1/2 or 3/4.

As for the hight of the bags It is mostly preference but for me I find my old bald eagle bag to be pretty good, but it is so tall that I tend to lose shots from me coming in contact.

I'm currently working to figure out a bag rider that will work for the oryx and allow similar functionality to the bag rider on my ACC chassis. I've had issues with the oryx wanting to constantly sink in between the ears on any bag I've tried so far
