Provincial parks

After searching last night for info and coming up empty handed, I turn to you fine folk.

My girlfriend and I are wanting to take my .22 with us camping to a provincial park here in SK. The plan is to get an RM map (I think that what I'm after, right?) and find a place to set up the targets and shoot for a bit.

2 questions:
The park rules don't mention firearms. We would be keeping the rifle locked up in the truck while in the park. Is this allowed? Or no firearms in provincial parks period?

Second, the RM map is what we want to locate crown land to shoot on, right? If not, how am I to find a spot to shoot?

It varies from province to province. Ask a Conservation Officer, they will know what the regulations are. In MB, for example, you can't load or discharge within 300m of a developed area (includes campsites) or road. In certain Wilderness Zones, possession is completely banned.

As for finding crown land to target shoot, again, I consult the Conservation Officer.
 
Not sure if anyone is interested but I have an update.
I could not get through to the COs in the municipality where the park is. I finally phoned the park (Cypress Hills, SK side) and it was busy. I was on my lunch break at work so I ended up shooting them an e-mail. they were quick to reply, heres the e-mail:
Hi Alex,
Thank you for your interest in our park. It is not illegal to have fire
arms in our park. They, however, must be encased at all times.

By that response I would say you would not be allowed to discharge that firearm.
