This if from Shawn Wiseman, the President of the PRS. He posted this in the FB PRS members group today. He had posted it in the MD group earlier, but had not give us permission to re-post it. It is with his permission that I re-post it here for you to read.

Shawn has competed in military sniper competitions such as the International Sniper Competition and the USASOC Sniper Competition. He was a member of the first place team in the 2015 USASOC Sniper Competition.

I'm sure you can guess what the most awesome job in US Army Special Operations is...

Today is Veteran's Day so I would like to thank all of our PRS members who have served or are currently serving in the military. For me personally, it was a true honor and privilege to serve and I know you all feel the same way. I would also like to thank all of the PRS members for doing such an incredible job of supporting our men and women in uniform. Most of you have no idea what your support means to them but I promise you, it means the world. A few months back I sent a note to all the Match Directors and I have been asked to share it with you today. I decided to do it because I think it's important for you to understand the importance of the PRS.

I have been a bit reluctant to write this but after sharing with a handful of MD’s, they encouraged me to do so. The reason I have been so reluctant is that it requires me to talk about my least favorite subject which is myself. Last year after we made the announcement I would be taking over from Rich as the PRS Director, several of my close friends asked me why in the hell I would want to do such a thing. Since then many of my new friends have posed the same question. My response has always been honest but not totally forthcoming. “Because I am passionate about this sport” is my standard answer. Well, here’s the Paul Harvey; the why I am so passionate about the PRS... I spent 23 years in US Army Special Operations and was incredibly blessed to serve the last 13 years in the most awesome job you could ever possibly imagine with some of the greatest warriors this Nation has ever known.

For us, being able to shoot quickly and accurately was of paramount importance. It was for that reason we spent the majority of our time on the range. We were very fortunate to be able to bring in the best shooters in the world to coach us. Guys like Jerry Miculek, Michael Voigt, Dan Horner, Robby Leatham and a host of other shooting legends have all taught me and my mates skills that have saved our lives on countless occasions. Those skills have been proliferated through the rest of the military and made guys who have never heard of Jerry Miculek better shooters. The only way those shooters are as good as they are is because of competitive shooting. The only way we knew to reach out to them was because in the world of shooting sports, they are household names and that’s only because their sports are “mainstream”. Those guys are all phenomenal carbine and pistol instructors but there was nobody who was a reputable long range shooting instructor, or at least none that we knew of. In reality, however, there were guys we could have brought in to make us better snipers but nobody had ever heard of the PRS. We had never heard of guys like Dave Preston, Joe Walls, Dustin, Wade, Bryan, etc., etc.. In the military sniper world, the PRS has no legitimacy which is total and complete crap. Shooting PRS matches made me a MUCH better sniper and marksmen and any of the other sniper guys that compete in the PRS will tell you the same thing. The fact is, none of you have any idea what a profound effect the PRS can and will have on our Military and LE snipers. That’s why I want it to succeed and that’s why I want it to grow and become mainstream and ultimately that is why I am so passionate about the PRS.
