Got the blessing from the club to hold a PRS style match this year at the Milo range south of Calgary - the first match is scheduled for May 7 with a second match in August if everything goes well.

It is still in the preliminary stages and more details will be forthcoming in the next while. The range only goes to 500M and we can't do some of the stuff they do in the USA but at least it is a start.

Thanks to all the CGN'ers out there who have been very helpful in getting the ball rolling.

Great news, happy to help you out if you need any assistance!

I think to spur interest in the discipline, rifle requirements will be pretty wide open.

There will obviously be advantages to using something suitable but I do know that some of the service rifle guys want to try it with an AR15 with an ACOG on type - this would probably be OK for the offhand stuff but miserable on the dot drill type work.

The range is templated up to but not including 50BMG. If you want to lug your 338 around and but 100ish rounds through it be my guest.

During the first match I will try to level the playing field a bit so the floor plate guys are not left behind. I think some stages will have a mandatory mag change, I cant decide yet.

If anyone has ideas on what they would maybe like to try please let me know.

I am hoping to have a good mix of prone, barricade shooting, standing/kneeling as well as a physical components.

The cost will be pretty minimal. If my memory serves it is about $20. I think I will design the COF for about 100 rounds if you do everything perfect but I would expect to use more. As this is an all volunteer organization those who compete will be asked to help (nothing major though).

The range is about an hour and 15 minutes south of Calgary city limits so budger for some gas too.

I think the event will be set up in squads. Someone will have to spot for hits and someone else will need to run the stop watch. I am still figuring it out though so suggestions are welcome.

Can you submit a deviation to the club for further engagements?

Personally, I wouldn't make the matches too complicated. I watched the recap of the 2015 PRS championships california and some of shooters didn't know some of the engagements (I would say the shooters were in error). But in any kind of championship? It just makes it look like bush league.

I'm interested since it's in AB.

Don't worry, it is happening and should be up on the website soon.

I am currently designing the COF in a way that will be challenging while still accessible to newer shooters.

If anyone has a Deuce and a half that they wouldn't mind us using that would be great. Also, a really old beater that I could borrow would be great. No we will not be shooting the vehicles if anyone was wondering.

I've got a beater I can donate to the cause, I acquired a 2000 Ford Explorer in a really bad for me deal. It's been laying in my driveway for 6 months but unfortunately has no insurance or registration and 2 flat tires. I went out and started it, it runs, the tires can be aired up but they go flat in a week or so. I was going to donate it to the Kidney Car thing for a tax receipt, but I am just as happy to let it be used for these competitions, I don't care what happens to it. I do not have any way to get it to Milo however, if I did I'd be happy to haul it down there. So if someone has access to a car trailer or tow truck I could help load it. If it stayed there for future competitions that'd be fine with me or I'll deal with it once they're over.

That is very generous of you. I will talk to the club and see. I know some of the other disciplines are looking for one as well. I will talk to everyone and let you know.

Thanks again!!

You do not have to be a member at the club to shoot. The club does want a mix on members/non-members.
