going to buy a vudoo

maybe not shoot competitions as physically challenged (perhaps mentally as well at times)

what stock or chassis

have a cadex strike nuke just sitting
saw a review kinda in a krg whiskey 3

any videos or how to compare a few without going to Ontario or bc to a match?

serious about buying in the next couple of months as I will own a vudoo by then, used to new a 3-60

thanks let the chat begin did not see much about this in the rimfire forum history

It really depends what you want to achieve.
If you're concerned about price, or balancing, accessory attachment points etc.

If you're not using it for competition, but rather a nice backyard/range plinker, most chassis will offer rigidity and a means to attach a arca or picatinny rail.

Have any more insite to how you intend, and what you would prefer yhe gun to do for you?

would rather have a fibreglass or composite than metal chassis

would like to shoot on barricades or ladders like at a match

just that I would time out every time there is running or lots of movement is all

I like the idea of shooting at multiple distances to engage steel targets and moving the scope turrets
rather than my usual shooting off a front rest and a rear bag

so shooting at the farm or the approved range just not with a stopwatch

lung and breathing issue (never smoked just unlucky )

prone or with a wei bag should be fun
and with a 10 round mag as opposed to single shot will be fun

just bored with benchrest all the time

and maybe with all,due respect better than speed shooting at fixed close distances with the same targets all the time

also want to do a lot of long range rimfire shooting. maybe out to 400,years at local range or

contrary to Jerry’s post saying I might never have shot long range I have 4 quarter sections touching each others so I can shoot over a mile on my own land, also had 60 moa rail and a fancy scope 5 years ago, that I was not enjoying that much so sold it

want to enjoy rimfire as centerfire is mostly done for me, too far to change 1000 yard targets and reloading every weekend

Sounds just like my impetus for trying ORPS, just to participate, glad they have the 'Stealth' class
the only one I will be trying to beat is my last score
The level of equipment commitment is purely what you want, keep in mind it may get beat up somewhat, but wood is repairable too
with some redgreen work, a bag and or bipod can be attached to any stock, but it can be free-handed too, place as the stage dictates
Am looking forward to getting off the bench too, banging steel is always fun

I have used MPA Matrix, Manners PRS-TCS and KRG Bravo with Vudoo.
I prefer MPA Matrix. A real light weight chassis, with skeleton type of looking.
Manners PRS-TCS looks like a stock but with a built in mini-chassis, so you don't need bedding. And it's fibreglass, very tough and high quality and beautiful patterns.
Function wise, I like MPA better. Aesthetic wise I prefer Manners PRS

First off, and while I haven't attended any rimfire matches out west, I can assure you pretty much everyone at the Rimfire PRS matches here in Ontario are generally excellent people, and will have no problem welcoming a shooter even if they may have physical disadvantages. We've had shooters show up with limited mobility, and will still 100% participate to the best they can, and to the best they can be accommodated.

In terms of chassis, stocks, etc. The world is your oyster. I've seen guys run the Strike Nuke to their satisfaction - throw an arca rail on it and you can attach anything you need. Lots of people use Manners stocks, some McMillan, etc. Pick whichever you want from a comfort, looks, functional standpoint and so on. Put your gun together and go out to the matches and have fun.

PRS is lots of fun and you'll learn plenty trying to do the stages and watching how others do it. Think of it as fun and a great learning opportunity that'll develop skills and make you a better shooter. Don't think to zoom to the podium straight off!

Chassis are as personal as the cars we drive. Money and preference play a huge role. You’re going to get all sorts of mixed reviews.
One of the Match Directors here in SW ON runs a manners prs with an Area 419 Weighted Arca to balance his rifle out perfectly which is the route I would take if I had that type of money to spend. I don’t so I’m looking at an XRS with mlok weights or possibly a weighted arca. The MDT Oryx will be the cheapest option for a chassis if you wanted to try one out for just a few bucks. If you don’t like it, someone on the EE will snap it up.
I second what Twan said, we’d love to have you out. There’s a fella that shoots from his wheelchair with a custom rest built in. It’s a great time to be had for all.

If you just want to try something that can be made to work as a decent competition chassis if you wanted, but feels somewhat like a stock, the KRG Xray can be had at a reasonable price.

I like your attitude and the fact youd like to try something different. Ill put an offer for you. I have a KRG bravo and an MDT XRS. I really like both and they both have their plusses and minusses. I love the XRS. Ive owned a JAllen, which was awesome but extremely heavy. Over 5 pounds. Tried two Manners and one sucked. Grip was way too small. My bad with a big hand. Anyways as I get derailed quickly. Ill send you either or both for you to try. Ill post too you, just you pay for the ride back. In my opinion I think the MDT XRS Is a very comfortable ,configurable hybrid that just feels rite. I also think youd do much better than you think at a match. Its all about efficiency of movement and shooting skills are much more important, Im old and when my brain stays in gear still win medals. Not that I care cuz I only wanna beat me. HAHA. Twan and Rubberdonuts are on my LIKE list for their comments. Thats the attitude more need to take

That's a very generous offer right there!

If you want something different that resembles a conventional stock but has options available to rival a chassis, these are very interesting.

OK folks hang on

in city yesterday and today dealing with carpenter to fix plumbers shower install screw up last week,
great overtime for him but not for me

this will also take 4 or 5 posts to,cover questions raised by yesterday venture

thanks longstud, maybe not sure yet

went to,Neerlandia coop yesterday could not wait for longstud as I am impatient

bought a SS spearhead machine sponsor rimfire tuner for the soon to be purchased vudoo or two

held a KRG bravo for 15 minutes, turned it over in my hands many many times does not work for me

a little to long for a length of pull to be comfortable when in a hurry to engage targets

need a small stature stock and we are in the minority so not many made. mmmmmmmm

HIDDEN GEM OF KNOWLEDGE

——— look at the angle of your arm and the bend you get with a shorter length of pull, much better to engage your target quickly. try it w/0 stock

ALSO ———- think about the following:

2. distance between the web of your trigger hand between the thumb and the trigger finger MEASUREMENT or distance to the trigger
to be discussed in a separate post

3. your I BROKE MY WRIST moment, the horizontal and vertical movement in your wrist makes a difference in REPEATABILITY, COMFORT, SPEED OF AQUIRING THE READY POSITION QUICKLY, more on range of motion and biomechanics later in a separate post

4. comfort level of the stock like the difference between a cold (hearted) metal chassis and the JAR - 700 a very very comfortable stock

5. weight factor for some. lighter can be much much better. some of us are not supermen and don’t need or like the trend to damper recoil in centerfire prs as this may not translate to good ergonomics for rimfire
REMEMBER A 18 pound RIFLE FEELS LIKE A 30 POUND RIFLE TO A MEDUIM STATURED PERSON and more to us more compact guys or even fat old men, you don’t need an extra 6 pound when picking up or swinging a rifle, it is a rimfire for, god’s sake

6. I could go on but want to make a video of this selection process
would like to talk to Matt or wombat on it,

maybe we could title the video womfat meets warthog

as one of 3 designers on,the Robertson JTR. BR stock jeff as in the J of JTR in the name, and re-designing the. Speedy f-class stock for a USA stock make I know a thing or two about a thing or two (old commercial plug)

more later carpenter thinks he might have fixed the shower
