Picked up some Prvi Partisan (nny headstamp) today assuming that it is boxer primed and non corrosive. Is this correct? Bullets are 123 gr PSP. Bought it mostly to increase my stash of reloadable brass. Shot the last of my boxer primed Lapua FMJ yesterday trying to get some good groups for SKS postal match. Bought it about 10 yrs ago at a Toronto area gun show. $20.00 for 50 rds in a zip lock bag. Also had a box of PMC, Win and Federal. Availability and prices have certainly changed. Best group was just over 3" at 100yds with "new"1954 Tula. Norinco SKS was a little larger. Cast loads were comparable to the jacketed. Still have a few days to break the 2.5" barrier.
60 year old eyes maybe the limiting factor!

Out of curiosity I just pulled a bullet- This stuff is boxer primed. 123 gr bullet- .310 in dia.-25.5 grs of fine stick type powder. Only pulled and measured one bullet and charge.

This is the current softpoint in the blue and white box. Fired a few rounds today out of my Tula SKS. I think this stuff is loaded too hot. I usually remove the gas piston from my SKS's and cycle manually when load testing instead of loosing some brass each session. For the first time ever extraction was somewhat sticky.I've shot a fair amount of factory and reloads through 3 different SKS's Recoil didn't seem heavier than normal but primers where flattened so badly that remaining firing pin marks looked like a tiny dimple. One looked like it may have leaked a little around the edge. Cases did appear normal. May only be soft primers but along with the sticky extraction I don't think so. I may try a couple with the gas piston back in. I've found when working up loads in SKS's the higher the pressure the more "violent' the ejection ( and usually straight up). Accuracy wasn't great either but that may have been me and it was a very windy day. I will probably pull the bullets and reduce the charge by 1 or 1.5 grs and see what happens. I really wanted the brass in the first place.
