I'm ready for my first AR, and I'm comparing these two:

Hoping for some feedback from knowledgeable Gunnutz...

thx

First off you need to learn how to hotlink. I know the two rifles you're refering to, otherwise it would be a pain. See that little globe icon on the upper right bar when you go to post? Hit that then delete the h** stuff and copy/paste the URL. Now we can just click on the URL and it will automatically direct us there.

As for your question. PSA hands down. They have a real following in the states as an excellent buy for a very good rifle. They also offer things like FN249 barrels or in this case a SS barrel. The DPMS has gotten much better but it's still considered a mass produced high volume/low priced lower grade AR. The PSA has a reputation for being a good AR priced below what other companies would charge for a comparable product.

Again the PSA would be my choice.

Now that being said right now it's an AR buyers market. Wolverine has Daniel Defense on sale for 1K, and Colt 6920 were on sale for 1K US etc etc. I would pay the extra and go up a level. Bridging the gap between entry level and higher end has never been cheaper. Take advantage of it.

I'm well versed in PSA...and I'd still pick the Freedom over the DPMS...but I'm with Epoxy7 on this...spend the extra couple hundred and buy something more upscale like the DD or Colt. Heck, there's even great deals in the EE...you'll never regret going that route.

For your purposes, you probably won't be able to tell the difference. Grab a DPMS from one of the local Canadian Vendors for $659 with the $50 rebate. That's an unbeatable deal.

"Why don't they answer...?"

Hey, thanks, guys! I just learned a few things I didn't know.
Plus I didn't know/forgot I had to 'subscribe' to my own bloody threads even as the OP,
so I sat around all day yesterday wondering howcum nobody keeps replying to my Q?
Feeling a bit unloved until a few moments ago :0 |
WHEW!! ;OD

I setup the search to default to Epoxy7 for user and check last posts. This way I can keep track of threads I'm interested in.
