Any chance of us getting these things in Blackface's Canada?

He talks about being able to use an AR lower, which would obviously make it an AR but is there a variant that does not require an AR lower?

From their webpage:

The PSA JAKL is a long-awaited platform built around a 6065 monolithic upper receiver. Compatible with any Mil-Spec AR-15 lower receiver, the PSA JAKL features a long-stroke piston design with AK/AR hybrid components that are field-strippable without the need for tools.
(emphasis mine)

So definitely an AR variant, definitely banned by the OIC, definitely not going to see it here until/if the OIC gets scrapped.

As for your question about a variant that wouldn't take an AR lower, they would have to produce a Non-AR lower, then modify this upper to fit that but not an AR. No market for such things in the US... And even if there was, the RCMP might say its an AR upper anyways and thus banned (as they banned AR uppers in the OIC).

Americans don’t want to build things that aren’t AR15 lower compatible. Rifles that are compatible with an AR15 lower will always be AR15s. Currently prohib.

308 JAKL with proprietary lower (18" bbl too) is in the works... Unfortunately no ETA yet.

Maybe time to ramp up emails to PSA, asking for 18.5" ?

Kinda like that AK hybrid version. It reminds me of a Galil and a Bren2. I've long been an AR guy but the long barrel required to keep rifles N/R in Canada is annoying because it puts so much weight far out front. I have sort of moved towards the X95 and am really loving it. The OAL and balance of a bullpup is just better.

For those wanting to submit their support to PSA to the idea of Canadian specific 180 Jakl, received a reply back to use the following reason on their contact page:
