PSA regarding phone orders

How is an online order any safer ?
You recieve the exact same information.
So many sophisticated scams these days, it's hard to keep up them

It's more so to ensure the one using the card is the one who owns the card.

Over the phone, it's impossible to tell whether or not the person is the actual owner of the card. At least directly on the website there's a few layers of security (matching IP to address used, direct connection to credit card verification, a direct point of contact with the fraud detection system, etc.) I'm under no illusion that this is a perfect system, but given the alternatives this is preferable.

The concern isn't so much about people overhearing the information (if they did, they'd use other methods beyond our control); it's to ensure the person giving the information is the one who actually is (or acting on behalf of) the actual card owner.
