What can you tell me about the PSO-1 scope. i believe the standard magnification is x4. Now I know it is no Leupold, but for a cheap scope (under $150 I believe) how is it for a short range scope. I see them with the AK mount all the time. I was thinking of playing around with this on an AR or more likely an M1 carbine. Are there other mounts out there?

They are for the side mounting, very specific. Make sure that you want to drill your frame from the side first... then you should consider that this scope is specific for 7.62x54 (SVD version).... unless it designed for 7.62x39 (AK version). If you go for SVD version, you can put it on SVT-40 or long Mosin rifle. It would work for 308 and 30-06 as they have similar balistics with 7.62x54, but as I said drilling is required. On the other side I know few guys who are really happy with it when they put them on Mosin. I'm going to put it on SVT 40, but I'll have to make a new stock first.
