Practical Shooters of Canada will be hosting a precision rifle practice on the Urban Assault Range of the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre in Meaford on Nov. 5.

Cost will be $80. Limited spaces. Registration is through the mlrsc.ca webstore. Advanced registration required, NO WALK-ONS!

This will be an informal practice with range staff providing shooters with tips and hands-on instruction. We will make use of the facades and structures on the range and a few additional barricades. Distances tbd. All targets will be steel except for 100 yard zeroing targets. Participants are expected to assist with set-up and tear-down (which will be minimal).

Caliber is limited to short action cartridges 30 cal. and below. Max. velocity 3150 fps.

You will need:
-Rifle
-100 rounds of ammo
-Ballistics charts for your set-up (25 yard jumps maximum)
-Pack for your gear
-Case for your rifle (hard is recommended)
-Bag, pillows, sling, tripods, anything you want to practice with (all shooting will be prone or barricade supported)
-Spotting scope (if desired)
-Food and snacks
-Water
-Appropriate attire for the weather
-Shooting mat (if desired)

Detailed instructions will be sent to participants prior to the match. Read them and follow them to the letter. This base has different procedures for transporting weapons and ammunition that MUST be followed.

K, thanks for doing this. I'm signed up already.

I know we are going to get more info but can you give us a rough idea of when we're going to start? Would help a lot with travel planning.

Probably around 8 am we will want to be rolling to the range. It will be the same proceedure as the match but from the lot you parked in.

Registration will be closed tomorrow morning and the instructions for arrival will be sent out shortly after.

It was a great time with lot of info and tips. We were able to try out those tips a series of barricades.

Thanks to all the guys that made today possible.

Well guys we could have not asked for a nicer day in November to have a Practise. We had a total of 20 shooters out for the day. Kris did a great mini clinic on stage prep, position, tips and tricks then we shot the rest of the day on 5 different barricades at 15+ targets out to 760 yards.

This was our first time using the Urban assault range and it is awesome. I don't have many pictures that turned out but I know there will be some posted up.

I just want to say thank you again guys for helping with set up and take down it saved us hours of work again. It is great to have an amazing group of shooters to work with, it make it a true pleasure to put these events on.

Just want to send out a special thank you to Dan for bringing his trailer again and Ben for allowing us to store our equipment at his property. As well as setting up the 1080 yard target to allow dan to shoot his 300 win mag.

Thanks again to Kris, Ryan, Dan, Ben and all the other attendees. Fantastic to see a great group helping out and getting this sport off the ground here. It was a huge benefit to get some coaching from Kris and to check out all the different rigs and equipment, not to mention just having some time to work out on the obstacles.

Conditions were great, with a bit of wind to spice things up.

Target Layout

Some of these targets were challenging. How about a 10" round plate at 759 yards?

Hey, I think your bipod slid back! ;)

As you can tell, Kris is pretty happy with his new MPA Chassis. A lot of interesting solutions to build stable shooting positions were demonstrated no matter what kind of rifle you brought.

Looking forward to the next one!

It kills walls that have covered sides and plywood barricades like the VTAC.

Wedge-lock is for round things. Standard barricade block works on 2x4s in either orientation. See the MPA video on Youtube.

Lots of stuff coming out for this chassis and for ones with picatinni to make non-prone shooting more stable.

Gives 'bag of tricks" a whole new meaning... :)

Pretty soon, PRS shooters will be carrying around more stuff then F'ers
