I'd email sales, but I suspect I can get a response quicker here...

Who's directly ordered bottom metal? Do I actually need to jump through ITAR hoops?

Any Canadian resellers I can give my business too?

Hmmmm, I'm trying to remember is Mystic Precision (Jerry T) can help you out with some PTG bottom metal. He has helped me in the past with CDI goodies.... or bottom metal in the past. Give him a try! :)

Cheers,

I've ordered directly from PTG. Do yourself a favour and buy something locally. I ordered a DBM for my Rem 700 and despite it being in stock and exempt from ITAR, I still hadn't received it 2 months later. They had basically not gotten around to filling out the form for it that states that it's ITAR exempt. I cancelled my order and was told I would be issued a full refund. I received an email the next week saying my order had shipped. I contacted VISA at that point as I had already sourced a Stiller DBM off the EE. I had to wait for the parcel to arrive from PTG and then go to the post office and refuse it. PTG said that they would refund me once it was returned to them. When they had it in hand for 2 weeks (going by the USPS tracking) I again contacted VISA as PTG kept saying they were gonna refund me but it never happened. I ended up disputing the charge and getting reimbursed by VISA a few weeks later. I basically lent PTG a few hundred bucks for 3 months when it was all said and done. They're nice people to talk to on the phone and they make good gear but that's more aggravation than I can deal with.

My experience reflects rugbydaves. Avoid at all costs. My CC company is involved after horrifically terrible customer service from them.

I believe the fine print says specifically that bottom metals are subject to ITAR... but since they're under $500, I thought it should be easy. All the scary ITAR fine print gave me pause.

I had one PM with with a positive review... but hopefully Bighorn can hook me up.

Well the two ITAR forms were simple and the Canadian IIC was processed and returned in two business days.

A hassle in the Amazon I want it now mentality of the day, but not really a barrier to getting the gear you want.

We'll see how long PTG takes on their end.

Update, Just got an email response to follow up on my order 4 days after sending all my paperwork. Just got confirmation it was shipped on the 4th.

Not too bad all on all.

I'm not worried about installation. (HS precision stock w/ fibreglass, not plastic accustock, but does have the full aluminum bed.) I installed my Atlasworx into a similar Rem 700 with a Bell and Carlson Medalist fibreglass w/ aluminum bed. It was easy with nothing more than sandpaper and a dremel and a little patience. (One relaxed evening) Works great. Should be easier the second time around I figure.

Installed. Was an easy diy. The PTG for a model 10 was already properly inletted in the carbon fibre part. Only the aluminum bedding portion inside the magwell needed 1/8" removed.

80 grit sandpaper by hand would get er done, but I mostly used a dremmel with the sanding wheels I had.

Was easy and is a very very nice amd tight piece of kit.
