PU mosin-nagant scope on rings

Recently got myself a PU scope replica 3.5x

My understanding these have mounts designed for them.
However, has anyone ever mounted these scopes in rings instead?
Tube is 26.5mm. What brand/kind/hight did you use?

Any input/help would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm not going to ask "why" even though there are scopes better suited to be mounted in modern rings... But just for the "because I can" reason...

I made inserts out of brass to make it fit in 30mm rings... I think you could get plastic ones at some point but I may be imagining things..

if i understand, you somewhat made shims out of brass?

you make a ring with a 30mm OD and a 26.5mm ID, slotted of course. If you have a lathe you can just bore out a 25 to 30mm set of adapters.

Would material between the ring and the scope tube alter zero retention?

Not if it's metal. Same strength as everything else in the mounting system.
