When slinging the PU mosin on the right shoulder, the scope base thumb screw tend to rub on you butt and fall off.
I found this out the hard way while hunting bear through the woods. Fortunately no bear showed up until I was able to grab my backup rifle.
When I got home I asked my gunsmith to make 2 screws, one to replace the original one, and the other with shaved screw head that fits flush with the mount for hunting.
