Well after a shoulder injury about 3 years ago I'd shot nothing but 20 gauge in sporting events here in Alberta. Recently my scores were getting embarrasingly low and some of thefellows were giving me the raspberries.

So we had a registered 200 bird shoot in Tofield yesterday at Beaverhills, and I thought it is time to test out the shoulder and a 12 gauge. I have an Extrema II with kickoff so that is what I used. Condtions were quite windy, I was shooting the Kent Hi Vel at 1oz 1300 fps. Had a couple of poor stations shooting a 2 and a 3 out of 8 birds. But I managed a 141 out of 200, finished 2nd in my class and won $200.00, and was high gun in my squad.

Think I might have to shoot the extema next time out!! FS

Try either the 1 oz. @ 1200 K122LSC28 8's or my current favourite,
the 24 gram International Skeet 24g @ 1250 K122OS24 8-1/2's.

You wiull be surprissed at how the OS loads crush targets and how relatively
little recoil there is. The Extremas gas system should handle them.
They work like a charm in my 391 (and even more so in the DT-10.)

Many times when you pick up a new or different gun your scores will jump up for some reason, maybe one is more alert when shooting a new gun, not sure. Shoot that new/other gun for awhile and your scores will drop back down to where they should be.

Thanks for the positive energy Ben, FS

Have you shot the Kent 1 oz. hi-velocity trap shells? Just wondering your thoughts on them. With the 1300fps, I would assume a little more powder, or is it the lighter shot that gets them up that speed? The skeet loads you speak of, also Kent's? Thanks.

The 1 oz. loads at 1300 are not really "hi-velocity" in my mind ... they are just the basic age-old standard load of 1 oz at 1290 that has been around forever. The ammunition from Kent ... just fine. And yes the International
loads are also from Kent (the "K" code numbers are Kent's product nos.)

For Trap, I think I would prefer the 1 oz. load at 1200. More comfortable to shoot a full program of 200 to 400 targets (or more a day) with.

Kent became available at one of our clubs out here but I held off because there was only 7/8 oz at 1200 ft/sec available instead of 1 ounce. Does anyone know what these loads are like?

Sorry Fasteel...i think I was thinking out loud about my own shooting and scores, and some of my past attempts with new diff. guns, and I always come back to making the same old scores because i make the same old mistakes.....

7/8

Fred

How many fewer pellets do you think are in a 7/8oz load? The International shooters shoot harder and faster targets with 24 gram loads, and break quite a few.
I have always shot 7/8 or 1oz loads, the Kent brand will cycle my Extrema II every time, as well as the 24gram. FS
