Puma 2250 with 50rnd drum......?

I got one from Kodiak Outpost a few weeks ago. Unfortunately it's been so cold here I haven't tried it much other than a couple of drums worth the day I got it(at -30!). So far I'm quite happy with it!:D It warmed up here today I am hoping tomorrow I will be able to take it out and put some rounds through it. I was impressed with the fit and finish, and I was really impressed with the drum mag, it's steel and looks well made, to me anyway. The only thing I didn't really like is the finish on the synthetic stock makes it look kinda cheap. A paint job would make it look better I think. As for reliability so far I had 3 jams on the first drum, 2 on the second so I'm thinking once the mag gets worn in it will function very well. Oh yeah and the drum actually holds 53!:D

One more thing I should mention Kodiak Outpost's service was top notch. My order was processed and shipped very quickly, and they send me emails constantly to keep me in the loop of what was going on with my order. Plus, I bought it a week or two before Kodiak lowered their price on them, and the other day I got an email from them saying they are giving me a store credit for the difference between the old price and the lower price. I felt they were not obligated to do this but the fact that they did it anyway shows a level of good, honest service that is getting harder to find these days. I am definately looking forward to dealing with them again soon!

How much did you paid?

so what kind of jamb's did you have??? just a failure to pick up the next round in the mag???

It seemed the spring was a bit sticky in bringing the next round up so the bolt could catch it. It was also very cold that day so it may have had something to do with it. I've loaded and unloaded the mag several times by hand since then and the spring seems quite a bit smoother now so I think once it gets broken in a bit more it will work great.

I'm curious about your comment that the drum "only holds 53 rounds". Do you mean that it gets so ridiculously hard to load beyond that point that there's no point in trying ? Would a break-in period also fix that issue ?

I was just making a joke that it was a bonus getting 3 more rounds in because the drum is only supposed to hold 50. The drum comes with a tool to aid in loading and is actually very easy to load from start to finish. I never filled it to 53 when I fired it I only noticed that later when I was loading and unloading it by hand.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to give an update on the Puma now that has warmed up here and I have had a chance to put some more rounds through it.

I have about 400 rounds through it now, and it seems to get better with every mag. For the first several mags I was getting about 1-3 jams per mag. But the last 3 mags or so have fed flawlessly! I think the mag is broke in now and it seems to work really well. I do usually get one misfire per mag. I am using the 525 round value pack federals and if I remember correctly I have similar results with my 10/22. So I think its the bullets not the gun. I haven't tried it with any other type of ammo yet but I hope to one of these days. I am very happy with it so far.

Just wanted to add my $0.02...........

Bought the PPS50 for my 13yr old son (X-mas present) and we finally got it out to the range.
Had an open box of 525 value pack(112rnds left). Each drum of 50rnds saw one FTF and appeared to be ammo related. No FTE's, or stovepipes.
Long story short...my son had a blast while a few inquiring eyes watched.
The indoor range is only 25yrds but the rifle seemed to be accurate, or maybe it was just my son;)
While the rifle and drum appear to be made well, I wasn't impressed with the synthetic stock (as Jameson mentioned). It was hallow sounding and plasticky(?) to touch.
Too bad the wood stock model wasn't available when I bought and I didn't have a full box of 525 that day!
