Having the inevitable "what else can you get NR" conversation this morning and the Remington 7600s came up.

The usual joke is made: "Go ahead, but then you have a black rifle that looks like a shotgun. Same as the MR1. The 7615 is more 870 than rifle, black or otherwise."

Except that got me thinking: people happily tac-out their 870s to make them into railed monstrosities. Aren't 870 parts mostly compatible with the 7600s?

Sure enough: those boys in the states have already done it:

Sure, it's not as slick as some options, but when your unit starts at $750, thats something to consider.

Not being semi might kill the deal for some. But see the silver lining in barrel length possibilities! Not mag capacities unfortunately. :(

Wow dude, thats really nice. Could you break down for us the brands/names of all the accessories?

I could see this setup on a mag-fed grizzly...

Correct: it's not mine at all! Some ambitious american put that together.

But with my eyes I can spot a Fab Defense grip, a UBR stock, and what looks suspiciously like Mesa Tactical parts for the rail and stock adapter.

Personally I'd be more inclined to try it with Cadex equipment, supporting the Canadian side and all.

This is what it's missin' (AR mag adapter)... or perhaps some proprietary 30-round mags!

Awesome find, OP... I never imagined a pump rifle could ever be this good looking and actually practical as a target & bush gun.

Respectfully Gentlemen

If I may add my first hand knowledge.

This has already been done, and done so on the Canadian side of the boarder.

I know you are talking about rifles, but a little background is in order.

If you will remember, long ago our Very own Brobee (which even pre-dated the mesa tactical attachments for the 870) pioneered an adaptor for the 870 along with a long rail.

This is a build I did with a Brobee Gen2 adaptor

It was not long after that that CGN member like Turf and Powerwagon were moding these adaptors to work with Remington 760 & 7600 Rifles in 308

(I have some pics at home that I will post)

Not long after that Australia ban all semi auto rifles, and that included law enforcement, so there was a big push to find a replacement, and they looked to Remington pump action rifles with adaptors to take AR stocks. Enter Mesa Tactical

Not long after that, Remington started to offer something similar and it looked like this:

The major issue with the pump action rifles is that they lacked the robustness of the 870.

receivers were not all that stiff, and the magazines definitely lacked that mil-spec durability. There were some 10 round magazines marketed however they were polymer, and of very poor quality.

There were some 7600p guns that came in 223 and would accept AR mags, but they never really caught on, and were of little interest to me, as I was on a 308/7.62 Nato kick at that time.

I know all of this because it was a natural progression from the shotguns I was building at the time, and a way to resist the AR addiction that was to come shortly thereafter.

In the end, the lack of durability was too much for me, and I abandon the project.

It is not my intent to pee on your parade, however this line of thought or idea is not a new thing, and its time has come and gone.

regards

AbH

This was mine, I traded it for a JR Carbine. I never had any issues with it, fed reliably with 5/30 D&H magazines, and LAR15 magazines. Originally had ghost ring rear sight.
The stock is for a 20ga 870, and a perfect fit. Downside is it's blackhawk, and is neither a mil or commercial spec tube.
Dlask apparently said they'll make 12" or so barrels that would be flush with the faux mag tube.
One downside is the magazine release requires magazine changes with the right hand. If the release was on the left side, it would of been much more natural.

Also due to the way the barrel is mounted, it can be easily changed for something like a .300 blackout barrel.
The Aussies seem to be leading innovation with these rifles.

Mag capacity with 7615 will always remain at at the ten max mark here in Canada.
DPMS had a short lived AR style pump as well. Unless it catches on down in the States, there really isn't the likelihood much will happen here. The most interesting thing here as of late was the modified SKS receiver that was adapted for AR mags.
Unfortunately, I believe the 7615 will be short lived...

oh, sorry bout that, thought it was yours. I can spot the same things as you, but that stock adapter specifically has my attention.

Dlask did a 12" barrel for one, looks really slick.

You making me second guess trading mine away. Nice & compact package with 10 rounds of .223 or .300aac at the ready.

I wish I would have seen that for sale I have one in 30/06 I love it and took a dear with it this year with iron sights ;0)

I thought those pump action AR mag fed rifles would have been the gateway to full 30 round mags. As manual actions they could have as much capacity as they desire and if they made proprietary mags and somebody made an AR to take those proprietary mags, we would be in the clear.
