I just bought a new grizz and it feels pretty rough out of the box. I was wondering how you folks normally go about breaking in a new shotgun? I'm finding it especially hard to feed my snap caps into it without first pushing up the floorplate with my fingers or having the gun racked back. once being guided into the tube the shells seem to hang up around the base of the cartridge before being fully inserted. Do these types of things normally loosen up with time or should i worry?

How rough are your snap caps? If the snap caps are fine, then you should call the place you bought it from, because sounds like there's something wrong with the gun.

I hate when my "snap caps" are rough. Spoils my whole day. :)

Well, if you take it apart and take the grinder to some of the parts, and if it goes back togeather, it will be OK then. :pirate:

You're not babying it are you? From what I hear, these ones like the rough stuff. You could take it apart and polish it up, or you could run 500 shells through it and do it the fun way. I'd recommend just shooting the snot out of it.

+1 on the above. It should smooth out with use. They are certainly not as smooth as Wingmaster out of the box, that's for sure, but those cost $700ish new. My first Grizzly has over 1000 rounds fired and it's pretty slick.

Some quality pumps like the wingmaster and the benelli nova and a few others do not need to be broke in. Clean your griz. Put on light lube. Work the action a lot. Forget the snap caps, just do not pull the trigger a lot. Shoot it as a single shot the first few times and then load a few shots through the mag. Chances are that with full sized rounds the mag will work fine. If not, polish the inside of the mag tube. Put at least a flat through the gun and if it still has problems, send it back.

well guys I ran about 100 rounds thru it today and after the first 25 it's loading easier already. Seems to function just fine when i'm going at speed so i guess i gotta quit coddling the gun when i'm loading the tube. Happy with the results so far. I'm on paper at 50 yards with no choke, no sight adjustments and the cheapest slugs i can find (about 3 inches high right). Overall i'm quite happy with this buy.
