Just bought a Winchester 2200 from the EE. The action will cycle open when the round is shot. I shot it a few times and didn't notice it. When another fellow used the gun (lighter grip on the forearm) we noticed it would open on ts own. What's the issue? Or is this common for this type of pump?

Happens on lots of pump guns I have 4 that do it and I shoot them with no problems but to be safe maybe do a tear down and giver a good look.

Sounds real bad, I'll do you a favor and buy it off you. Taking it off your hands, for your safety. Please do not take it apart and try to "fix" it as suggested by someone that doesn't know the 1200/2200/1300 action.

Reminds me of the "dealer" in Napanee that had a 1300 barrel on a 1400 shotgun and couldn't figure out why the shotgun wouldn't cycle.

The winchester guns are slick for a reason. It's supposed to do that. My 1300 12g with Slugs cycles the shell right out and all I have to do is slide the foreend forward.

My 20g 1300 upland special will only half slide with 2 3/4 but full with 3".

You my friend are holding the gun with to tight a grip and the other fellas are shooting it properly.

This is why you can pump so fast, putting a rear pressure with your pumping hand, it will be instinctive and you will notice how fast you cycled the action, on my 7615P, i find it very fast to cycle du to that rearward pop... JP.

Your good my old 870 did that like said above you can cycle way faster and if you practice a bit you can use the pop of the recoil to cycle the action back

Kind of like a blow back system

This is why Winchester referred to the 1300 and 2200 as the " Speed pump."
