Purchasing a restricted firearm...

Hey guys.... not new to guns and shooting but new to the RPAL thing.... just got mine and am looking to buy a pistol or revolver... I know if I buy one at a store I have to wait until it gets registered, have a PTT etc etc.... what are the steps if I buy one off of the EE on this forum?... please post 'em step by step for a countryboy...... :)
 
Don't know the exact answer as I haven't purchased one yet either. But the seller will definitely know. Due to the fact that you won't be transporting it because it will most likely be shipped then my best guess is the seller will call the CFC and initiate the transfer and then you call in the same as you would a Non Restricted and complete the transfer, maybe it might take longer to do than a Non Restricted, not sure

Like I said, I don't know for sure, I'm just taking a stab at it (and upping my post count ha: )

You would contact the seller, once you have sent funds along with your registration and shipping info, they will contact CFC and initiate the transfer, once the transfer is completed by you the shipper ships it to you, once delivered you then need to get an ATT to take it to and from the range.

Only thing i'm unsure of is if you can apply for the ATT before you have it in your possession, which i think is OK because my friend drove to Kingston to pick up an AR15 one day and got a temp ATT to drive it back home while he waited for his official ATT to get it from house-to-range

As long as the firearm has been registered to you, you can apply for an ATT. The CFO will check the registration with the CFC, and if all is well according to the CFC they will issue it.
