I currently have a Norc M4 and use the CMMG conversion in it. It works well, but I would really like to have a dedicated .22LR upper with the proper .22LR chamber, .223" bore and 1:16 twist.

There seem to be very limited options for this and all of the ones I have seen use a 16" barrel, while I would like a 10"-12" barrel. Does anybody sell components (upper, bolt group, etc.) to let me assemble my own or complete uppers with the shorter barrels?

Thanks,
Mark

ST-22 11.5 upper, probably one of (if not the only one) very few in the country. 1 off order from fabsports.ca

Runs like a well oiled sewing machine. It disproves the idea that .22LR can't be reliable. Only failures in the last 5k rounds have been when I monopoded on the magazine while prone, and a couple confirmed defective rounds using multiple solid strikes on the primer.

That is exactly what I am looking for. Care to share the cost and wait time you suffered through?

Thanks,

1. It's 1-16 twist.
2. 670$ + tax/shipping.
3. 2 months or so.

Spike's doesn't make them anymore. CMMG makes an even better upper than mine in the US, try fabsports or any of the other dealers to see if they are willing to import them.

I'm not selling mine :p Not even for double what I paid.

Notice the bolt is locked back by itself, CMMG BHOA!

Why not have a barrel made for your existing .22 conversion?

I know a guy who did just that, took a ruger 1022 bull barrel and machined it so the conversion would fit it. Looks identical to P90Puma's upper only with a stainless barrel. Any half decent 'smith should be able to whip one up from a blank.

I built mine... it was an 11 year project though... it was a project I got to when I had time and funds.

DPMS slick side upper, YHM rail, 11.5" M1S 1/16 twist .22LR barrel, barrel collar that replaced the .223 adapter, old Ciener conversion kit, AGP folding stock, Magpul accessories... still waiting on a trigger guard.

What it looks like now on a dedicated Vulcan lower (next to the newest .22LR in the stable):

It's been exceptionally reliable and it's been great fun to shoot. I have read how the conversion to .22LR can be tricky, but it was pretty much a bolt on process for me... I guess I was lucky.

i always have one eye out for a spikes dedicated upper on the ee but its really rare to see one sadly.

been eyeing the cmmg though as its the best option out there that is easily available
