Push feeds/ Controlled round feeds

Push Feed - Ejector is in the bolt, spring loaded. As the cartridge is pushed into the chamber, the extractor jumps over the rim of the case.

Controlled Round Feed - Ejector is not on the bolt. Cartridge rim slips under the extractor before entering the chamber. http://www.winchesterguns.com/prodinfo/features/images/crf_m.jpg

Modern versions of the CRF allow the extractor to jump over the rim as the round is being chambered if it didn't successfully slip under. These are called Controlled Round Push Feed. http://www.winchesterguns.com/prodinfo/features/images/crpf2_m.jpg

They both work fine.

That should give you an idea. Left is push feed, right is CRF.
