Well, spent all day Saturday bunny hunting. The dogs were hitting a lot of hot starts that ended up forcing me to push the bush again. One of the little irritations I have about pushing the bush is all the damn bites and welts I end up with after the fact!
Despite wearling two T-Shirts, a long sleeve flannel shirt & an insulated flannel work jacket, I still ended up with mysterious red splotchy/bite marks? on my arms & chest/stomach. Happens everytime I have to bull my way through the bush. Oh well, time for the alcohol and Lanacane again!

Still had a great day though! Got 15-16 good starts and ended up bagging 6 bunnies. I should've had more, but the leaves still haven't dropped yet so visibility is iffy. Even though I was hunting with my little Fox/Savage .410 SXS, I passed on a fair number of shots as I couldn't be sure the dogs weren't hot on the bunnies tail. The dogs ran their tails off though! Poor buggers, my brother ended up packing the youngest female out in his rucksack! She was pooped and basically said fug it when faced with another 4-5 km hike back to the truck.
I kinda think she enjoyed being packed out papoose style, and happily curled up on the benchseat for the trip home. The other beagles were pooped too, but made it back to the truck on their own steam, I had to help 'em up into the cab though! Hadn't planned on running them so hard, but the starts came so fast and furious, they didn't want to call it a day.
