The bolt action military rifle at its finest, even though it is a Hun rifle? :)

Combined features of the Manlicher, Lee Enfield, and Mauser 98. :)

This is the last in a line of Hungarian rifles first developed after WWI. The earlier version used the interesting 8X56r. The rifle in the clip is supposed to be 8X57mm. It seems the Huns were sufficiently impressed with the Lee Enfield to copy some of it's characteristics.

The 43m became the German g98/40. With a jvh coded receiver in 8x57mm.
The g98/40 in original gean trim are rare up here. Not sure on the gun version but I've not seen one for sale.

A Hungarian Mannlicher Model 1935 Infantry Rifle (Gyalogsagi Puska 1935. Minta (35M)); shows up for sale periodically, at the Burnaby monthly gun show.

^Another thing about the G98/40 is that it was mainly used by notorious 'anti partisan' / police units.

In all I heard about 200,000+ of them were made.

The butt socket piece is not a part of the receiver like the SMLE. It fits between the receiver tang & the rear trigger guard screw from what I have read.

I've been looking for a 35M or 43M for many years without success. I've only ever seen one 43M in Canada in many years of looking.

Wow... I saw one of these yesterday for the first time ever and had no idea what it was.... I really hope I didn't miss out on a deal!

Funny, there was one at the Calgary gunshow this weekend, I don't recall the price, but I do recall thinking 'hahahaha' when I saw it.

That's a really nice rifle Horilka, definitely uncommon. Cool bayonet too! Quite the mounting assembly, not to mention the blade itself is a departure from the norm.
