I bought a Remington 742 on the EE an just got it in the mail a few days ago. I had a scope from a previous rifle and wanted to put it on my new rifle. I had the mounts from the previous rifle which were Weaver #75. They fit on the front screw holes but did not match on the back two screw holes. I went to Cabela's yesterday and they didn't have the Weaver mount for the 742. They had Leupold mount but I didn't want to buy new rings so I used the Leo mount and found a Weaver mount that matched the back screw holes and it was part #35. I had to shim it a bit, but I got my scoped mounted for $3.98.

I won't have time till this weekend to see how close it got it. I leveled the rifle and then checked the height of the mounts with a level and they seem to be bang on. I know it is not the best way to do it but I don't have a caliper and other measuring tools for this kind of work.
