Putting a 590a1 14in barrel on a shockwave gun is ...

LOL how do find a 0.005" measurement with a tape measure ? and get 10 tape measures and 10 people to measure them with and you will get 10 different measurements. I think you are being quite silly and unrealistic for the sake of arguing

Maybe a bit exaggerated yes, BUT a legit question... being a industrial mechanic and using precision instruments measuring. 0001 of a inch daily for something simple as a bearing ...I think its safe to say the rcmp dealing with firearms wouldn't be using a $20 home depot special "fat max" to measure or passing it around the "chosen measuring circle for everybody to get a chance" but rather a jig that is used or a device manufactured to do just this very thing to Measure the OAL with precision. You may think it's silly. But guess what if it is .005 short it's now restricted and I'm transporting a firearm illegaly. I don't do "grip tape" or little things to just make it by, i do what's legal and makesure everything I have has no doubts. And it only takes 1 out of those 10 to read it under 26 for it to be a problem...

Is there a set standard for measuring OAL? as long as you can make it cover 26 inches of tape measure it would seem to be 26 inches long.

Tough Love sucks ;)
I have come to the realization people are looking for things to nit pick about when it comes to looking for the smallest of possible details to complain about.
Put a thicker butt pad on it and dont look back.

When I built my Tac-14 I had exactly that issue.

When I measured the gun across the diagonal it was just barely over 26 inches.
However, when I measured horizontally it was just under 26 inches.

It seems the wood grip that I am using is just a bit shorter than the normal raptor grip.

And I did not want to risk a criminal record or prison time ...

So, I installed a GG&G rear sling adapter ... and which mounts between the receiver and the grip/stock.

Problem solved, you can measure that gun any way you want now ... it is over 26 inches.

Also keep in mind that "26 inches" is not the legal definition in Canada. The actual Canadian laws/regs/rules state 660mm... which is 25.9843 inches.

you're welcome. :p

Ah yes your right I did forget it was in mm people got so used to saying 26" as its easier than saying 660mm. I guess without that gg&g sling adapter it's still good . Thanks for the refresher

No problem!! we talk mm and cm so infrequently that it's easy to forget that it's the official measurement. lol

And it's kind of a moot point now, but FWIW, taking an existing non-restricted firearm and reducing it's length to less than 660mm doesn't make it restricted - it makes it a prohibited firearm.
