I know it's not really a necessity but I would like to add one on my mossberg. It's a 591a with pistol grip and folding stock

Guess what I would like to know is what a good cheap red dot and how do I mount it. Thanks

What is cheap? Red dots can go from $40 to $1000s....

The best bang for the buck is in my opinion is the Bushnell TRS-25, but it's around $150

Wanna go real cheap? Buy a cheap chinese red dot on aliexpress for about $25.....but don't expect much....especially with a shotgun!

As for mounting the red dot....get yourself a picatinny rail mount for $15-20 on Amazon! (they have them that will fit the Mossberg factory mounting holes)

Your's have the D&T holes? Not all M591A's do.
Like BadLieutenant says, what's your budget? If you pay cheap you get cheap too.
Cabela's start at $119.99.

I have been looking at a red dot also but this 10 and 20mm mount has me confused. I need the regular mount not the 3x8 like a 22 has. What I can't remember is the size.

You need to be careful with some of the cheap chinese red dots.
I bought one and whilst if handled the recoil of a 7.62x39 I couldn't adjust the sight enough to bring it onto target.
