Putting Irons on a .17hmr, how?

Hey all,

I currently own a Savage 93 in 17hmr. Been using it a lot lately as my carry gun for the trap line. This is the combo package one, i.e. came with a 3-9 scope. This is less than ideal for being up close on a animal (+/- 2 yards).
Curious as to what it would cost, and how would i go about getting a set of iron sights for this. thinking some kind of strap on front post and something to click into the rear scope mount?

Any help would be great.

Other option would be to go buy a cheap .22 but lets leave that as a last resort for now.

could cut your own dovetails and mount any sight of your choice...I've considered doing this once before, but ended up selling the gun, so can't provide any feedback on the quality of that particular jig...I think wheeler makes a dovetail jig also

Necg I believe it is sells setups. They're not cheap and are silver soldered on.

you might be better of trying to trade it for a stevens 300. I believe they have open sights. I had a stevens favorite in 17 hmr that would have been perfect for your needs. Super light and compact.

anyone ever put regular buis from an AR on their weaver mounts? They should fit, just curious about the super short sight picture
