If you have a beautiful LB rifle, DON'T F*@K WITH IT!!!! You can buy a "no-machine" scope mount that will not require any alteration to the rifle. I've not used one myself, but I've heard good things about the good quality ones. My only beef is that they end up with the scope sitting very high so you'd have to buy or fabricate some sort of slip on or strap on cheek piece to give you a decent cheek weld. If you have good eyesight (like I used to), you can find a very nice Parker Hale 5C target sight and the mounting hardware. I've mounted them before when my eyes were good enough to shoot with irons, and they are wonderfully accurate and adjustable. The big advantage is that, again, you don't alter the original factory specs to mount them and it's a breeze to put the original sights back on. When you've decided and done the work, I'd love to see some pics.
