Hi all I have a beautiful LB NO4 MK1* 303 that shoots very well I would like to put parkerhale sites on it and maybe the repro scope but dont want to make motifications to the rifle. Am I able to simply buy them on e-bay or is there gunsmithing involved?

Neil

If you have a beautiful LB rifle, DON'T F*@K WITH IT!!!! You can buy a "no-machine" scope mount that will not require any alteration to the rifle. I've not used one myself, but I've heard good things about the good quality ones. My only beef is that they end up with the scope sitting very high so you'd have to buy or fabricate some sort of slip on or strap on cheek piece to give you a decent cheek weld. If you have good eyesight (like I used to), you can find a very nice Parker Hale 5C target sight and the mounting hardware. I've mounted them before when my eyes were good enough to shoot with irons, and they are wonderfully accurate and adjustable. The big advantage is that, again, you don't alter the original factory specs to mount them and it's a breeze to put the original sights back on. When you've decided and done the work, I'd love to see some pics.

There is a steady stream of sellers on E-Pay offering repro No.4T sniper rifle cheekrests. These screw onto the comb of any No.4 butt with two slotted screws. So, find a second butt and buy a cheekrest. Keep the original aside and modify the spare.

You can put a Parker Hale 5C on the rifle. You do not need to modify the rifle. Safety arm may have to be changed to clear sight. Of course you'll need the mounting hardware. If you need anymore detail you can PM me...I've done several of these. Ron

I have a Parker Hale, that I would "think " about trading you...before you start changing anything!! If your interested drop me a pm. I think I have a scope mount for it too. PM before you start cutting/grinding....etc ...you get the massage lol.
Cheers

You can get an Addley no smith mount for your LB no.4, easy bolt on mount and it holds zero. I have a sporter no.4 LB that wears one, it's a great mount. Nothing ruined and you can unbolt it in a few minutes if you decide to go back to stock trim, with low rings iirc I have a pretty comfortable chin weld using a 4x12x40mm scope.
