Clobb,

I have the ambi release too and have found that the more my gun gets used, the slicker the mags drop free. I know you have a lot of rounds downrange with that gun so I'm sure it's getting there.

I'm interested in getting Dlask to do the barrel cut on mine too so I had a couple of questions:

1) Is it still non-restricted. I'm assuming that with the 12" barrel, it's still around 29 or 30"?

2) What was the turnaround time from sending it to Joe to getting it back?

3) Did Dlask reposition the front sight in conjunction with the barrel cut?

4) Cost?

It would have to be rebarrelled not cut, as that what make it prohibited? And it would be restricted with the 12" barrel, as it is under 18.5". OAL wouldn't matter

Thanks for the feedback Tritium! I don't have a ton of rounds through the rifle, maybe 1500, so based on your experience I'll just keep shooting it and they should wear in fine.

Unfortunately it's restricted. It started life as a restricted 15" CZH-2000. But the 12" barrel means it will have to stay restricted. It's OAL is 30".

2) What was the turnaround time from sending it to Joe to getting it back?
Turn around time was 3 months or so. Dlask does great work, but they are a very busy shop. I didn't mind the wait as I knew going in it would take while and I wanted someone who knew what they were doing.

3) Did Dlask reposition the front sight in conjunction with the barrel cut?
The barrel wasn't cut, they installed a new Lothar-Walther barrel and installed the front sight from the old barrel. I had to adjust it quite a bit when I got it back but it's well in the adjustment range. I zero it at 75 yards and that gives me reasonable POI at all ranges out to 200 yards.

4) Cost?[/QUOTE]

If I remember correctly it was around $450 or so, but you would have to call them to be sure. I got a good deal on the rifle in the EE, so I ended up paying about what the new 11" ones cost, but without some of the function problems I've read about.

Thanks guys!

Fyn: you're right! I had to go back over the reg's to refresh my memory. Bad laws but, hey, they weren't designed to make sense.

Clobb - I may do it anyway! I don't hunt with my CZ and I only ever use it on the range.

Yeah, that was my reasoning as well; that and I have a preference for short barreled rifles and shotguns!:D

The 12 inch barrel makes for a very handy package. It would make a great little bush gun if it were non-restricted. Velocity loss on the 7.62x39 is very acceptable.

Here's the chrono data I got when I tested it:

Czech Surplus Ammo:
858 Results: 19inch barrel 7.62x39
AVG Velocity: = 2294fps +/- 21fps

DLASK Conversion results: 12inch barrel 7.62x39
Average Velocity: 2119fps+/- 29fps

So we lose roughly 175 fps with a 7 inch reduction in barrel length! I zero at 75 yards which basically gives me point and shoot out to 200 yards, which is a 6.5" drop traveling at about 1700fps. It drops like a stone after 200yds through, 300 yard drop is over 26 inches.

Clobb, you always get the coolest stuff.
I wish! LOL!
