Any body have any experience with these triggers in Rugers? West Gun parts has the triggers for 50ish $ which seems to me to be a good way to go instead of messing with the factory pos. I have 2 new ruger 77's, 22 hornet and 17 HMR which I am assuming are identical triggers to the 77/22. Any input appreciated.

Best advice I can offer, is to dig into the factory parts lists that came with the new guns and see if they use the same part numbers for the trigger assy's in the 77/22 parts lists. That would be how I decide if the triggers are the same, and thus, whether the trigger "should" fit. Sorry, no experience with the Timney, other than that they have a good rep, and $50 seems to be a decent price, IMO. Would be interested in hearing how it works out, if you go that way! Cheers Trev

I have put them in 77/22's, 77/44, and several M77-MarkII's.
The M77-Mark II's are different but very easy to install. I believe the $50 kit for your 77/22 is a replacement sear and lighter spring(at least thats what it was when I got mine). To install, you replace the factory sear with the new one(drops in)-but your safety wont be working until you file a corner off the factory trigger part. It took me about 30min the first time, and about 15 min on the rest.

I *think* the 77/22 Hornet is different than the 77 rimfire actions. Double check before you order.

The factory 77/22 hornet trigger is abysmal and non-adjustable. However, it has a lot of potential in the design, which is similar to the excellent winchester model 70 design. A competent gunsmith could do quite a bit with the factory trigger, and may be a better investment than an aftermarket replacement unit
