Hi guys!

well, i paid the money to a member on this board, and im getting the transfer almost completed for my dar701 lower receiver!

anywho, i want to build a modern tactical looking rifle,....

im going to get an aimpoint replica sight (get something along the line of trijicon another day) and i want to mount it like pops' gun

so i want to be able to use the aimpointdot sight, and my open sights.

im not sure if i want to get a magpul stock, or just another carbine adjustable.

i want a tango down foregrip (or the other forehandle that folds) and i want to be able t o mount my harris bipod on and off.

oh, and i almost forgot im going to need to get an upper (thinking of 11, or 14" a2 bushmaster in .223)

i also want to get some sort of bolt and bolt carrier.

now my questions to you experts, am i laeving anything out? what else do i need to have a complete gun?

get an A3 upper instead of the A2 if your gonna use optics. you can always attach a carry handle to it if you want later (alot harder to remove a permenant one). to mount the sight like in the picture you should get a free floating handguard not just rails.

to complete it you'll need a lower parts kit, buffer tube and stock, charging handle, boltcarrier complete, and a complete upper w/barrel.

IMHO, just get a completed Stag Arms upper (pm dangertree he's the Canadian dealer)

Complete upper (A3) with bolt and carrier is $795.

I'd have bought this instead of my more expensive Armalite if I had known at the time ;)

If you want to mount a bipod and a vertical grip, you could mount a piece of rail on the bottem of the handguard. Cost about 40$ for the rail ( cheapest route) Thats if you plan to use handguards.

Now if you want to mount a red dot forward of the carrying handle, which you should get a A3 upper over a A2 ( not much you can do for the A2 ). You could get a rail extention that clamps on the reciever and extends over the top of the handguards.

Using A2 uppers there are only 3 ways of mounting Scopes/Dots

Got the Carrying Handle Scope Mount, Which makes the scope/dot way to high up. http://www.calssportingarmory.com/ARMSnumber2.htm

Bi Level A2 mount

And well the RAS

Using A3, you can mount them on the reciever, they stay low, you dont have the carrying handle in your way, you also can get a reciever extention, also you can get a detachable carrying handle if you do want to mount another optic, also with the RAS it will allign up with the reciever and you could have 2 optics. A3 is just more usefull.

Now you can say F it, and get a RAS. Right now DLASK and Yankee Hill Makes the cheapest free float RAS out there. Around 150 CND. That will solve your vertical grip, bipod and mounting the reddot problem. Also looks nice.

Get a Vltor Clubfoot stock, Cheaper then a magpul stock and just as nice.

Bolt and Bolt Carrier is a must to have, W/o you gun doesn't go bang bang.

Maby this week, I'll pop off my A3 upper and drop on my A1 to show you the difference.
