Python repairs in Canada? Anyone send a gun to colt before?

TL;DR backstory - Bought a Python awhile ago from the EE that was said to be in fine mechanical shape; a good shooter, but no princess by any means. I took it out, shot it, seemed to function fine. Sold the gun a couple weeks ago, and the new owner informed me the timing is off quite a bit and needs repair. I refunded the buyer the money he had paid for it and the gun is coming back to me now.

So I am stuck with a paperweight at the moment and I am reading that Python's can be difficult to have repaired.

Is there anyone in Canada that repairs them? Alternately, has anyone ever sent a gun across the border to Colt that can tell me about the process?

If you find someone, let the rest of us know. I have a well used Python that I love but it is very iffy when shooting double action. Iffy in that it does not reliably set off the primers on the factory loads I use. I believe the previous owner did something to it, or perhaps magnum pistol primers are just harder now than they were back in the 60s and 70s.

It looks like Murray Charlton does work on Colts, but now it is time to decide if I get the gun fixed or flush it as a fixer upper. If I get it fixed, I'll be married to it lol.
 
The classic Python problem. They run like swiss watches: if you don't send them in for regular service, they go out of time and are just a reminder of the money you spent.

I have bits of bullet jacket lodged permanently in my right hand from somebody's out of time Python.

The triggers are smooth as baby skin, and the internals are as robust as baby skin.

Charlton should sort you out.

Actually, I have had a Colt Python since 1980. I shoot it on a regular basis, and it only gets a regular cleaning after every use. It's never been in for "regular service" (whatever that may be), or for any other service for that matter. Still runs like a Swiss watch. Mind you, I don't use anything but factory ammo in it; which probably answers that.
 
I own a Colt Model 357, which internally is identical to the Python. I rarely shoot full house loads through it.
But it receives a steady diet of 38 special about twenty to thirty times a year for the last 8 years.

No problems here yet. A nice bonus is that it's freaking accurate at 50 meters.

Lucky...I've never seen one that made it even to 5000 rounds without going visibly out of time. They've never been known for their longevity.

Not true. Any revolver will go out of time if it's mistreated. Most of the Pythons that go out of time do so because they are cocked way too fast and fired or dry fired in double action too fast. Treat a revolver right and it will outlive you.

Yes he is, I concur. I am/was the buyer, got a couple Pythons from him and when the issue came up there was no hesitation on his part to do right on the deal. We came to a very friendly understanding, and in my books he is a top notch gentleman, and an honest seller. I've done the same in the past, and it's always great to deal with people who have integrity like this.
