I’m planning to order a laminate stock to replace the old ratty one on my Husky 9,3x62 M38, the manufacture offer 1/16" Oversized Inletting. As indicated the oversized inletting for Glass Bedding in action and barrel channel areas. I do plan to accurize the rifle but am uncertain if I require the extra oversize inletting for the action and the barrel. The stock will require some inletting work anyhow prior to bedding, the stock comes unfinished. Any thoughts to this, anyone with experience bedding a rifle? Any feedback is much appreciated.

Cheers

Normally when bedding a rifle, you'd remove a wee bit of stock material(the 1/16") in the receiver area so the bedding compound will fit. Your manufacturer has done this for you. It's not a bad idea. Saves you a bit of work.
It's not such a big deal for the barrel channel though. The action bedding compound goes out to the end of the chamber area with the rest just sealed. This will give you a floated barrel. Mind you, not all rifles like a floated barrel. Some shoot better with a small pressure point just aft of the end of the forestock(an inch or two). The only way to find out if your rifle likes a floated barrel is to bed the action, then shoot it. If the accuracy is what you want, you're done. If not, you put in the pressure point with a wee bit of bedding compound. Liberal use of the release agent is required.
