Q re Magpul SGA buttstock on Mossy 590:

Is it necessary to remove this stock, or part of it, before you can pull the 'trigger assembly' out?
I've been searching for articles and on YT for someone to answer this question before I go and order one.

I know most all the pistolgrip-type stocks will not allow you to remove your TA until you remove them first, and the SGA
is sort of a 'semi-PG', so it's not clear to me whether or not this operation is necessary.

I don't even know how to respond to this. What don't I understand? The trigger group comes out with the Magpul SGA installed on Mossberg shotguns. This allows you to dissasemble the action and yes, clean your bolt. If that doesn't answer your question then I don't know what to tell you. Unless you're the one who doesn't understand?

Hey, hey, easy, fellas. All I said was "ONE of us doesn't understand." I didn't mean to suggest it was you.
But when you said, "Trigger group comes out with stock attached. No need to loosen it," I thought you meant that the trigger group was somehow still attached to the Magpul stock, and when I removed the trigger group, that the stock would come with it.
That didn't sound right, so I didn't know for sure which one of us was confused. It certainly was me--sorry--I just couldn't figure that out. :confused: But I did understand your next transmission... The trigger group CAN be removed without having to take the stock off first. That's very clear now. Thank you for clearing up my confusion.
Sometimes we humans have a hard time being understood. Good luck to whoever has the first contact with aliens from outer space! :runaway:

Yes, the Magpul SGA needs to be loosened in order to remove the trigger group.

To prevent this, you need to sand away some material on the stock where the trigger group tab inserts so it'll pass through cleanly.

+1 on that. Have to loosen the stock bolt to remove the trigger group. I will grind mine down the next time as I don't trust the longevity of the snap cap cover.

The snap cover for the stock bolt access is terrible. Like a cheap remote control battery access door from the 90s. I had one shipped to me that was already broken.
Magpul should have used the same hard rubber insert they used on the 870 SGA. Major oversight on their part.
 
It's either one or the other... or maybe it's both...?

Maybe Magpul has two factories, and only one of them got the memo about what the dimensions the opening should be.
Now I'm really curious! I'm just waiting for mine to arrive... I'll let you know which version I received once I get it installed. f:P:.
