Q: What is the weight of the propellant in a primer?

I'm with Suputin on this one. Why bother?
It goes bang every time. If I use the same brand and type in my loads it does the same thing each time and my loads create the same result. Knowing what chemicals are in it really makes no difference to a reloader and not knowing won't change the consistency of your reloaded ammo. It's not like you need to factor it into your calculations when developing a load, You go by the book and experiment within the recommended powder range and maybe slightly over it if you're not seeing pressure signs until you get the accuracy and velocity results you're looking for.
Why dig any deeper?

Am I at 2000 posts yet? I was hoping to get there before 2014 ;)

pfffffttttt...... 2000 post.... light weight :)

I just pulled up some documents I have on ammo and they don't list the weight of the primer componants.... Hmmmmmmm I guess its not significant.

primers aren't propellant.

Arguably they can be. A primer is a solid that generates a larger volume of gas. It just does this via an explosion rather than via deflagration.

Ever hear of a CB cap? Those are primer powdered bullets.

However in the case of a full sized rifle round the amount of gas produced by the primer is a tiny fraction of the gas produced by the powder.

Well I try to make my posts quality posts not just post random crap to boost my post count.

LMFAO
