I use an RCBS hand primer, the one with the round primer tray and uses shell holders. Tired of trying to dump large square Fed primers onto a small round tray. Often some escape and those little devils got expensive.

Does the square tray that comes with the universal hand primer work with the shell holder type?

Not sure about the square tray but when I load the round one, I have success with this technique.

Place the flipper tray on the bench (if you lay it on a clean rag or towel, the odd escapee doesn't go far)
Center the side of the upside down primer package over the widest part of the round tray.
Holding the cardboard sleeve, slide the plastic tray out slowly and the primers will drop one row at a time into the center of the flipper tray. they should all pile up in the middle.
This also has the advantage of dropping only 10 primers at a time, as needed.
Hope this helps.

Great idea, thanks!

I always expect to loose some, but never do. Just place the tray on top of the open primer box and flip while squeezing the cardboard package. Always flip with the primers in the vertical position.

I just drop all the primers from the factory packaging into a plastic margarine container. Then I pour them onto the primer tool tray. You can see them all and where they are going which you can't do when dumping primers from the factory packaging. I never lose a primer.

I simply place half the tray at a time. Any that need to be flipped get flipped and away I go. Definitely not something that has ever managed to slow me down much thankfully.

Depending on the version of your RCBS hand primer, yes the square ones will work. They appear to be the only ones available as a replacement as well.
