I should probably clarify further, now that I've thought of it some more.....
I need to take the scope off and on with minimal hassle- so a lever system or some nuts would work fine, just don't want to spend more than 5 minutes doing it.
I need it to return to zero well enough to hit a 10x10 gong out to 300 and sometimes 475 yards. It's not necessary that I shoot it one day and the next day I put the next round right into the same group. If it's off a wee bit, I won't care. If I ever decide that I need the exact same zero multiple days, I just won't remove the scope.
I just take many guns to the range and so I want to break down this large rifle a bit to facilitate that. For my purposes, it's just not practical to have it in it's own dedicated case, fully assembled.
So my requirements have gone from QD takedown with ultra precision to "no huge hassle and pretty close to zero" all in a few hours.
