Quad synthetic stock owners

Hi guys, I have a question for you. I have a Sako Quad .22wmr coming in the mail to me and I had been searching for a .17HMR barrel. I found one off a Varmint, its a heavy barrel. Is it possible to fit this on my reg stock Quad? I have read there may be an insert that can be removed, is this true or just internet shenanigans?

Hey!!!

I've been through the same "research" and also have found that removing the stock insert allows for a heavy barrel. Although I have not yet confirmed. I have 2 Lilja barrels coming in in the next few weeks... if you're patient, I can confirm it for you. I do believe that it is true though. The Synthetic Quad and Heavy Quad have stocks that look identical (the cheek piece is just a add-on) and it would make total sense from a manufacturing point of view to only build one synthetic stock for both barrel contours.

I also did remove the insert on mine and there's quite some room in the barrel channel without the insert, so I do believe that a heavy barrel would fit.

I'll confirm once I get the barrels.

Awesome news I'm leaving for work on Saturday and won't be able to read CGN posts for the month due to the restrictions on the net the company has. I can't wait to play with this rig.

I just got an email last night that my barrel was in Alberta. It will ship today so I should get it in a week or so. I'll post in this thread once I test it but like I said, I'm not worried. If you're looking to import Lilja barrels, PM me and I'll give you my contacts.
 
Just got my Lilja barrel for the quad!!!! WOOOHOOOOO!!!!

And I'm confirming it! The bull barrel (.900" straight) fits the synthetic quad and is free-floating when the insert is removed.

Now I need to find the time to go shoot that thing!!!!

I'm so excited!
 
you should fill up the synthetic stock with epoxy...I have one myself an they are soft as crap... how much you paid for your lilja B. barrel ?
