Quality Bolt Gun for Lefties

Ee

Gatehouse is right, it pays to watch the EE for donor rifles at least..... Nothing out of the ordinary or unique usually, but a good basis for a custom can be had.

Thanks for all the good info everyone. Looks like there are some good things happening for left handed shooters. I just don't feel I know enough to go the custom route. I would need my hand held the through the entire process.

Lefties, look to Europe! besides Sako, you can choose from
Blaser - a real nice straight pull bolt in LH, the model R93.
Sauer -model 202, a turnbolt
Mauser -model 03, another turnbolt.
All three offer interchangeable barrels, which may mitigate the cost of a somewhat more expensive rifle if you plan on owning two or more different calibers sometime.
Heym makes a higher end rifle in LH. Their model 30 is a straight pull bolt.

You may also want to consider an O/U or SxS rifle, of course they are ambidextrous! Merkel, Blaser, Kreighoff, Heym, and many others make them for the European market. They won't be bought for your $2000 budget though.

Where do you get these guns in Canada? Tell me more about the Blaser.

Blaser a fine firearm if there ever was one, but in and around the $4000.00 price tag.
Having a custom built rifle done for you will be a good learning experience for you, a good gun smith will take you by the hand and guide you through it. FS

If you are interested in a high quality, off the shelf, classic styled, CRF, left hand bolt action rifle I would check out Dakota. If I wanted a high quality rifle without waiting for a custom build, that's the one I would pick. I don't have a clue who imports them, but if you want one bad enough there will be a way. Maybe check with Wolverine Supply. Those folks are pretty good at importing hard to get stuff.

No doubt the Dakotas are fine rifles. I've never seen one, new or used, for the OPs budget of ~$2000.00. Usually double that for an entry level Dakota rifle, AFAIK. Nice thought though.:)

Coopers look like a entry level rifle next to the Dakota price list.
