quality of M305 out of the box?

I sold mine after sinking a bunch of money into it. It just wouldn't shoot as good as my Garands.......
I'm thinking of building a .308 M1.......:)
 
For the price of $400 out of the box, I'd say its pretty good quality. I'm hanging on to mine, even though I dont shoot it much these days. I can see those rifles appreciating in value in the next few years.
 
I took my M305 out to the range for the first time last week, finally. I think I was shooting at 50m, standing. Was shooting pretty good groups, yea 50m but I imagine 100m prone would be pretty good groups. I'm a good shot, but I'm not sure when I'll get out to a decent 100m range to try it out.
