I use a Cad-Technik two piece base for the Lee-Enfield No.4 and No.5 rifles. The lower part is left on the rifle and the upper can be detached with the rings and scope and re-attach without loss of zero. So it can be done if the design is good and manufacturing tolerances are precise.
I can't think of another quick detach base at the moment, but on another gun I have a simple one piece Weaver base and the scope is in Leupold quick release rings and that set up works, too. I wouldn't be afraid to try others of good repute, e.g. Warne Maxima rings, but unless there is a price advantage or Leupolds don't fit the height requirement next time I want to equip a rifle with a quick detach scope I'll probably use Leupolds again.
