Hello all, I'd like to purchase my first restricted firearm but I have a few questions about provincial regulations. I'd like to know if I am obligated to join a club prior to taking posession of the firearm.
My plan is to purchase a 1911A1 frame from Marstar and slowly build up to a complete pistol. I'd prefer to buy the gun complete but I need to keep my hobby spending to a minimum.
Any comments or links would be appreciated.

A complete new Norinco 1911 from Marstar is only 325.00 , it is probably the cheapest new 1911 in North America . You might want to wait an extra paycheck or 3 and buy a complete 1911 , when it comes to the hobby of firearms , the gun itself is the cheapest thing and feeding it can get very expensive . Or keep an eye out for a used one on board here . Best wishes .

province only really controls the ATT (authorization to Transport) and they make that as difficult as possible. You can only transport between your home and a range you have to have your membership dues paid up, the ATT is only valid for a year. It`ll go alot faster if you bring into your CFO (local SQ office).

the sq will now not issua u a registration or transport permit to take possesion of your firearm without a photocopy of your shooting club membership card
i bought my first restricted firearms 6 months ago and i was delayed for 4 weeks because they were leaving me messages saying a membership number wasnt good enough instead they wanted a faxed copy of my card
since then i own 4 hg and they all went through smoothly

Thanks for the info.

with a complete pistol you can be sure everything works- a frankengun may not, may, or may take a lot of work - if i remember correctly there are 4 different lengths of connecting link alone- not to mention other things- it's a job for a smith to assemble one from parts and make it work right- a "simple" change of hammer/trigger put my colt series 70 out of action and i can detail strip a 45 - wouldn't hold the hammer back on ####- so it's a gamble to get it to work right the first time- a factory job is tested for function before it leaves
