and with my height of 6' 2" allowed me to engage all five targets on the left side without moving. Then run to the end and engage the remaining targets. No time consuming stops in between.

Well since you broght it up :)

I worked the stage on Saturday...

The fastest time of the day was 8.60 I know it was legit because I knew there were issues on the previous day (including my own time) and I was checking for total number of shots. He didn't stop either...he was in motion the entire time...very few shooters could pull it off as smoothly. That was with an Open gun. There's no way anyone could have touched 8 seconds by shooting 5 targets from a static position, and certainly not with a Standard or Production gun. Lot's of shooters looked to the far left position during their walk through and decided against it.

And...there were times of 5 and 6 seconds recorded (in Production)

The stage was a disaster...

2Filthy getting stages thrown out.

why would you assume that 2Filthy had that thrown out ?

The stage was tossed because there were several times recorded that were obvioulsy impossable...his was one of them (5.? seconds)

2Filthy was an innocent bystander :p

I watched Madness, a top Standard shooter, a top female who was shooting Standard and a top limited shooter all run the stage in 8.5 to 10 seconds. There was no way it could have been done in better than 8 unless it was a very lucky run. We all shot it the same way, literally running the entire stage.

My time with a Production gun was 7.65 and 2 Filthy was 5.6 or 5.8.

There was no way that a Production gun would have been THAT fast! The timer wasn't picking up the shots fired behind the wall at the end of the stage (especially light 9's).

It was the only bad stage of the match and wopuld have been okay if the timer picked up the shots.

Trit

Oh, and Quig, 2 Filthy might have been a bystander but he is by no means innocent!!!!!!

I know, I was on his squad. I watched him shoot that stage.
He was flying , It's a bird, it's a plane, no it's super 2filthy :runaway:
I think he did do it in 5....seconds. ;)

Like I said earlier...

Too bad it didn't get noticed sooner and have reshoots ordered.

Officials suspected a problem with my time within 10 minutes after I shot. But since I was one of the first shooters of the match I think that they were not sure. I think that when some of the best shooters started coming through they probably started to take a closer look at my time... which is not right.

What if I did have the "run of my life?"

I would have much rather the officials have a look at the timer immediately after my run and confirm that the timer heard my shots. If not, explain it to me and order a reshoot.

Stage gets saved... I save face... it don't look like I was trying to cheat...

I'm really getting to like this guy.

With all that said and done... I am glad that the stage was trown out... which takes any questions out of the true final results.

Well, let's think about that shoot all 5 from the start idea (to be honest, I didn't consider that for myself).

Draw and shoot the target on the right - 1-1.2s. Then move to the left and behind, shooting the first left target while you're moving up - 1-1.5s ,so we're up to 2.7s already). Then you have 4 targets - the first two are fairly close, so say .4s splits - so adding another .8s to give us 3.5s - two more targets, further down, and at an angle. Assuming non-Open gun, call it .75s for the first one, and 1s for the last one - so that's 3.5 + 0.75 + 1 = 5.25s - that's BEFORE YOU EVEN START MOVING forward, AND you are out of position, and up on a hill, on the left. So, is someone really going to tell me that you can then run all the way down and shoot three targets, two of which are behind a wall, all in 2s?

There is no way that shooting most of the targets static, from the start position, was the right strategy for this stage, or something that would allow a 7s run. Sorry...

OK...before this degrades into a pissing match...

It is reasonable to expect that the time you are given is the real time...mine was 8.6 and I had nothing to compare it to so I had no idea it was bogus...after all...people in uniforms never make mistakes

So what did we learn class

  1. Always check the number of shots recorded on the timer.
  2. Make sure to get the timer in a position to pick up the shots on the other side of hard cover.

It's not the first time it's happened...and it probably won't be the last :(

Ohhh, no, not at all ;)

it's just that's normal, (as you said) to take the time at face value, and especially if you feel you had an amazing run, or came up with an idea which no one else thought of, to try and defend it. Breaking down the timing of that idea of shooting everything from the start, just makes it clear ( I think/hope) that that approach cannot make a 7s run possible...

No problem, no insults or attacks intended ;)

Yah, at a slow 13 sec. run on this stage (maybe it was really 20 sec.), I would of liked to have shot it over again & put a fire under my ass. first stage of the day, I was still looking for a coffee & a muffin (o.k. so it was 12pm  ) still needed a pick me up !

I think as standard practise, first stage of the day, shooter gets option for a reshoot, regardless ;)

Stage 8 explained

Hi Guys
I personally did not see the recorded # of shots on the timer, just the actual time, so I certainly cannot confirm that it recorded all 9 shots. But the RO did take a good look at it. So I would assume he was looking at the number of shots. If it was accurate and I did have my best run, there are lots of better shooters out there who could shave some time off my 7+. So maybe a 6 or better is possible. From the right angle there was very little muzzle movement required between targets. Too bad the stage was disassembled, it would be fun to try again.
As to the request for any video, I do not know, but as the last shooter in my squad I doubt it. As for my ammo it was factory Win Clean- 124 grain with a PF of about 135 as chronied on site.
Still a great event either way.

Mike

Just to be clear 2Filthy and I are good friends and that was shot ( verbal NOT a DQ). Just having a little fun at his expense.

Yes I know I have NO friends but I did pay him this month.

Yeah, the teepee made me feel a little more at home, as did the campfire, the ponies and the "trees".:dancingbanana:  ;)
But y'all were shootin' them there stages with them new fangled auty-loaders, not single actions.:D  :p
Never mind, us uns will make good use of them this Saturday.
I'm makin' mystery-meat, road-kill stew.
Bring a spoon.
See ya.
