Quebec's Provincial Police to consider prohibited only firearms in IOC

The important point is that SQ might only consider a firearms as prohibited if it is in IOC and might not consider FRT status.
This is great news for all Canadians since I suspect that the entire FRT reclassification is basically considered at least dubious by one large law enforcement organisation.

And the RC FRT abuse is a great argument for a province appointing its own Firearms Officer. There is the letter of the law, then there is the practicality and approach to enforcing it.

I've said it a million times (okay maybe more 7 or 8 times): every Canadian Province should have its own Provincial Police force directly accountable to the provincial minister of security or its equivalent.
With an Alberta or a Saskatchewan Provincial Police force, the federal government would not be able to fool around with Canadian's rights in time of crisis.

there are pros and cons to both systems.....it wasn't long ago when the Ontario CFO disregarded the will of Parliament and did his own thing briefly. IMNSHO he should have been charged under the police act for his actions, but he decided to retire.

I also recall when the province of quebec decided to disregard ALL OF CANADA and took them to court to keep the registry...so its good to see this, because the cops are saying they will enforce the "law" and not the FRT which isn't law.

What I would prefer to see is organizations like the CPA/CACP/OACP/POA/SPOAO/ETC tell the government in one loud voice that the problem isnt with us, but rather the criminals and to stop enacting silly laws that wont help the problem.

But would they listen....the Fed Gov is actively ignoring questions it does not want to answer...not even giving a runaround answer....just walking away.

NWMP over reach in Calgary was the primary reason they were shown the exit door.

At least with a municipal or provincial police force, you can go a complain directly to the responsible or talk about this with your local elected representative.
Good luck trying to complain to the federal government about the RCMP.
When was the last time that RCMP did something dubious and got punished for its action?
Generally in Canada, anytime the federal government starts telling any region how to act or think, everything goes sideways...

Unless the Surete du Quebec puts out an official release in writing, this is not worth much.

I strongly advise that people do not decide what to do and not do based on some stranger's claim online who says he spoke to someone over the phone.

Without confirmation, it is hearsay.

hmmm...not sure how that will help in the big picture. I get the whole they had a mass shooting and they had Dennis Lorte go off in parliament...im torn on how that will play out for us. I have said from the beginning that there will only be confiscation or grandfathering or both. The buy-back, I highly doubt will occur. I'm 1/2 french Canadian and I will say that Quebec is an odd duck.
