Quest for information and worth

Lefever Arms Co. was an American manufacturer that closed in 1916 when they were bought out by a holding company. Eventually bought by Ithaca Gun Co. Ithaca brought out the lower end Nitro Special in 1921. They came in multiple grades.
It's value will depend on the grade and whether or not it has damascus barrels. Epp's is listing a 12 guage, Grade HE with 30" damascus barrels at $829.
You may want to rummage around here.

It has a 30 inch barrel but I'm not sure its damascus. The artwork on the metal and stock isn't as nice as some of the guns on the website you suggested I look at.

Thanks

These guns were marketed as Lefever shotguns, but as said by others were really Ithica made low end guns. Though they were econimy grades, some came with real extra's that make them a real great gun by todays standards!
I have a 410cal SXS Lefever and it is very whippy and an extra great partridge gun here in NWO, I would give it up for less than $800, but othere than 410's or 28 gauges they are worth no more than $3-5 hundred on a good day, with no extra's!
If you are looking for a good durable shotgun, these qualify in spades!
cheers Dale Z!

I now understand the damascus barrel was prone to blow sometimes. I have been assured by my father that this one does not have a damascus barrel.
