Questar's S&W 5906 with Barsto Barrel

Does anyone who bought one of these from Questar have any comments on how they like the gun? What is the overall condition (they are used pistols after all)? Any issues with using reloaded ammo in the tight-chambered Barsto barrels?

I've had a few of the S&W 9mm autos with the factory [prohib] barrels in the past... I think they are an "okay" auto. And the deal looks interesting. Certainly, the pricing is attractive... Personally, if I was buying from Questar it would be the Glock 19 with the Bar Sto barrel. Having had the S&W's in the past, I'd prefer the Glock pistol over one of them.

I've owned a couple of 5906s, they're nothing special. Unless the Bar-Sto barrel has some magical effect on them but I doubt it.

how close to the RCMP standard issue gun are those? They look almost identical except the mounties probably carry 40's?

Lets put it this way for duty pistol at 25 yds I can consistently hit a 3X4 circle in PPC (unfortunatly the X ring is 2X3 and my group is not centered.... I haven't worked with it that much yet... But I hopefully will get some time to work with it...

No, 9mm.

The RCMP normally issue the S&W 5946 which is a DAO 9mm. The 5906 is exactly the same EXCEPT it's a DA (not DAO). It is double action first shot and single action thereafter.

One other difference the RCMP guns have a nice little horsey engraved on the side of theirs.
